Traditionl Grammar

Students learn the basic patterns of English grammar from a linguistic, scientific perspective. They acquire the necessary terminology and framework of analysis for describing English words, phrases, and sentences. This is not a writing, editing, or speaking course; but, students will equip themselves to more fully appreciate writing style guides, usage handbooks, and language-learning materials. Prereq: 6 cr hrs of English at 2000-3000 level, or permission of instructor. 3 cr hrs in 2367 in any subject is acceptable towards the 6 cr hrs.
