Course explores the 1994 Rwandan genocide through active learning experiences in Rwanda. Topics include: origins and causes of the genocide in Rwanda and globally; forms of violence, participants, and victims; aftermath and legal response including gacaca courts and collective memories; and human rights, development, and economic growth in Rwanda today. Prereq: Permission of instructor.
